Sissons Shines In Auckland

In the Barfoot & Thompson ITU World Triathlon Series event in Auckland last weekend Ryan Sissons earned 6th place which should earn him an automatic nomination for the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.  Another blueseventy athlete, Tom Davison, smashed himself on the bike to put Sissons and himself in the lead group through much of the race and set up a chance to run with the leaders.  Sissons delivered on a day when Javier Gomez and Jonny Brownlee held back no punches and raised the temperature on a day that was already at or above 30 degrees.

Sissons had a dramatic day in front of home crowds. His swim wasn't his best, Davison rode extremely hard to get the two of them to the lead group and the run was predict to be blistering with Gomez and Brownlee leading the charge. At the end the summary was simple, “I came into this race wanting to qualify by myself for the Commonwealth Games, and I did it,” said Sissons.
